Today I heard someone say they were not going be so nice because their kindness was not well received but was taken advantage of too often.
I don't know which is more sad, this being said or the fact that several people commented in agreement with it.
Reactions of those around you or circumstances in your life should not dictate the type of person you are. If you are someone who is kind then be kind no matter what another person does or says.
We can not always choose the circumstances in which we are in but we can all choose who we are.
William Shakespeare knew that when he wrote the line in Hamlet:
"This above all, to thine own self be true"
